Kas olete tundnud hetke, mis eristub ajakangast ning kutsub: nüüd ja praegu? See on kui värav uude tunnetusvalda, mille kaudu avaneb täiesti uute võimaluste ruum. Vanakreeka keeles tähistas kairos kriitiliselt õiget momenti, millal on võimalus tegutseda ja midagi korda saata. Kui chronos on aja üldine kulg ja aja mõõt, siis kairos on õige ajahetk, mida on vaja tabada muudatuste tegemiseks. Kairose ära tundmist kirjeldati metafoorina, kui keskkonna rütme ja muutuste jälgimist – kangastelgedel kudumise ja vibulaskmisena. Kanga lõimede vahelt läbi lippav süstik peab liikuma just õigel hetkel, et moodustuks ühtlane kangas. Õigesti ajastatud lask vibuga tabab märki. Kangasteljed ja kangas, maastik ja sihtmärk on osa aja ja ruumi ühtlasest voogamisest. Linnamaastikes on kairos tähenduslik kui hetk sotsiaalses keskkonnas, inimese paiknemine ühiskondlikes muutustes mille tulemusel toimub inimeste lugude põimumine ning sellest vormuvad uued kujundid ja motiivid. /K. Näitus “Kairos” on ehtekunstnik Kätrin Beljaevi isiklikku laadi meditatiivne ruumiinstallatsion ehetega. Ehete ja ruumi seoste läbi kirjeldab kunstnik linnamaastikul ja sotsiaalses keskkonnas põimunud lugusid, hetki mis on oma vormi saanud ehetes. Toimunud kohtumiste materiaalsed jäljed on jagatud teemadesse “Linnad”, “Amuletid” ja “Kriimud”. Näitusetööd on valminud residentuuris Idar-Obersteinis Saksamaal ning kunstniku kodustuudios Luksemburgis. Kätrin Beljaev on lõpetanud Eesti Kunstiakadeemia (MA juh.prof. Kadri Mälk) aastal 2015 ning täiendanud end Firenzes ja Portos. Ta on osalenud erinevatel näitustel Eestis ja mujal maailmas. Vabakutselise kunstnikuna on teda tunnustatud Noore Ehte Fondi preemiaga (2016) ning tema töid võib leida Eesti Tarbekunsti- ja Disainimuuseumi püsiekspositsioonist. Näituse avamist seoses koroonaviiruse leviku ohuga ei toimu. Võimaliku kairose korral toimub kunstnikupäev lühikese etteteatamisega. Have you recognised a moment that stands out from the flow of time and that invitingly seems to say: here and now? It is just like a gateway to a new realm of cognition that opens up a space full of entirely new possibilities. In Ancient Greek, the concept of “kairos” denoted a critically right moment when one has the chance to act and to accomplish something. Whereas “chronos” means the general flow and measurement of time, then “kairos” is the exact right moment that has to be recognised to make changes. Recognition of “kairos” was described as a metaphor for observing rhythms and changes in environment – for instance in the form of handloom weaving or shooting arrows. The weaving shuttle sliding between the threads must move at the right moment in order to produce an even fabric. A well-timed release of an arrow hits the target. Handloom and fabric, landscape and target – these are all a part of the constant flow of time and space. In urban landscapes, “kairos” is equipped with a meaning as a moment in social environment; a man's location in social changes that results in interwovenness of various personal stories and relating formation of new images and motifs. /K. Jewellery artist Kätrin Beljaev`s personal exhibition “Kairos” is an intimate and meditative spatial installation including jewellery. Through the interconnections between jewellery and space, the artist describes stories and moments of urban landscape and social environment that have received their form as jewellery pieces. The material traces of past encounters have been divided in the following themes: “Cities”, “Charms” and “Scars”. Exhibition pieces have been made in the artist residency in Idar-Oberstein, Germany and in the artist`s home studio in Luxembourg.
Kätrin Beljaev has obtained MA degree from the Estonian Academy of Arts (supervised by Professor Kadri Mälk) in 2015 and has studied in Florence and Porto. The artist has participated in various exhibitions in Estonia and abroad. As a freelance artist, she has been acknowledged with the grant from Foundation of Young Estonian Jewellery in 2016. Her artwork belongs to the permanent collection of Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design.
Due to the danger of spread of coronavirus, there won`t be an opening event of the exhibition. On short notice, the artist will be present in the gallery during one day in case of a suitable ‘kairos" moment.
